Kajri Akhtar's cinematic journey stretches from the vibrant streets of New Delhi and the glamorous world of Mumbai to the sun-soaked landscapes of Los Angeles. With over a decade of experience, she's steered a diverse range of projects, from international commercials to Bollywood blockbusters and thought-provoking documentaries.

In her transition to a producer, Kajri made her mark on the global stage, collaborating with brands such as Google, BMW, Coca-Cola, and Honda. She also worked alongside Spike Lee on his impactful film "Chi-Raq." Her role as a Producer extended to her tenure at Ransom Film, an international production company in India founded by celebrated artist and ad-filmmaker, Bharat Sikka. Kajri also had the privilege of partnering with the award-winning Cinematographer Larry Smith on a compelling brand film for Star India, one of the country's largest TV networks. Her commitment to meaningful storytelling shines through in her documentary about Kamla Bhasin, a prominent Indian social scientist and feminist icon.

In 2017, Kajri Akhtar brought her vision to life by founding Icchi the Cat, a production company dedicated to empowering women in film. Her portfolio is a testament to her versatility, spanning across narratives, documentaries, web series, commercials, and branded content. Leading her company Icchi, she produced ad films with renowned brands like Apple, Pepsi, Huawei, and Pernod Ricard, and partnered with impactful organizations such as the Melinda Gates Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Kajri embarked on a new chapter when she relocated to Los Angeles in 2019 to study Producing at UCLA. Wearing multiple hats in production and development, she recently completed a commercial for National Public Radio, an indie feature film titled "Advanced Chemistry," and worked on a feature for BET Network titled "Deadly Entanglement”. She also produced an upcoming comedy series on Indian immigrants in America called "Chutney Manor," for a streaming platform, a feature-length documentary on incarceration in America, two striking brand films, ’A Silent Symphony’ and ‘Chasing the Sun’ for a tech company Real Me as well as captivating short films for the American Film Institute, which are currently making waves in the festival circuit.

As an O1 visa recipient, she's committed to creating safe and nurturing work environments in the film industry and facilitating global collaboration. Her ultimate goal is to build communities where empowered creatives can authentically express themselves. Through powerful documentaries and narratives, she aims to amplify the voices of the marginalized and share stories that deeply resonate with audiences.

She is currently in post-production for her first international short film, 'Zari,' shot in India, written and directed by Shruti Parekh. Zari is the winner of a grant through the prestigious Julia S. Gouw Short Film Challenge presented by CAPE USA, an Asian American film organization in Hollywood, and Janet Yang Productions, helmed by Janet Yang, President of the Academy of Motion Pictures.

Kajri Akhtar's life is a vibrant blend of cultures and creativity, as she splits her time between Delhi, Mumbai, and Los Angeles, all while crafting films and savoring the art of culinary indulgence.
